Private Walking Tour of Coco Chanel’s Life in Paris

Paris History Tours

Learn about the complicated life of the legendary fashion designer and businesswoman, Coco Chanel on a private walking tour.

Tour Description

Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel’s story is an eternal source of inspiration and fascination, ever since the founding of her first shop on the rue Cambon in 1910. Trained as a seamstress by nuns at the orphanage where she was abandoned by her father, an itinerant peddler, Chanel reinvented herself through her talent, beauty and iconic style sense. The Chanel collection of clothing, perfume, and accessories is an unparalleled fashion empire. Chanel’s conviction that “simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance,” imbued her chic suits and creation of the little black dress. But her life included a brief career as a cabaret singer, affairs with Nazis and a self-imposed, post-war exile in Switzerland until her triumphant return at the age of 70 to face off with rival Dior’s New Look. Find out all this and more while we walk in her footsteps in the elegant Place Vendôme area, visiting the Chanel flagship store and ending, if you wish, with tea at the Ritz, where Mademoiselle lived. [2- hour private tour, includes hotel pickup.]
