The magnificent gilded-dome royal church of St Louis des Invalides holds the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte. Learn about the roles of both Louis XIV and Napoleon in the history of France, and the life and times of the soldiers who resided in the Invalides. This building complex holds the Soldiers’ Church. If desired, you can book an additional time to explore the Army Museum (with or without a private guide) which is dedicated to themes from the French Revolution to the two World Wars, Charles de Gaulle, armor, artillery models and military musical instruments.
Located in a magnificent city-chateau, home to the definitive collection of Auguste Rodin, one of France’s most famous sculptors, known for his powerful unconventional work. Rodin’s seminal work, the Thinker, and his great sculptures of Balzac and the Burghers of Calais are on display in the beautiful gardens, while The Kiss, his portrait busts, studies, paintings, and ceramics are found inside this mansion which once served as his studio.
