Nice & Monaco

Paris Day Trips and Excursions

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Nice is located in the beautiful French Riviera and sits on the pebbly shores of the Baie des Anges. Founded by the Greeks and later a retreat for 19th-century European elite, the city has also long attracted artists. Former resident Henri Matisse is honored with a career-spanning collection of paintings at Musée Matisse. Musée Marc Chagall features some of its namesake’s major religious works.

3-Day tour recommended.  Includes airport or train station pick up and hotel drop off

Begin your first afternoon with a wonderful walking tour that will cover the iconic Promenade des Anglais, the scandalous fountain at Place Massena, the colorful Cours Saleya market and highlights of Vieux Nice. You’ll see the house where Matisse lived and worked, the Jewish Quarter, and Nice’s most spectacular baroque churches tucked away on narrow, 17th-century streets. An elevator whisks you to the top of Castle Hill for sweeping views over town –and a dinner reservation at a fine restaurant on the beach.

DAY TWO: Monaco

Board a ferry to Monaco with your private guide who will then walk you through Monaco’s oldest neighborhood Le Rocher (The Rock) with its tidy pastel houses and views over the sea. You’ll visit the Prince’s Palace, home of Prince Albert, and then visit the Monaco Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried.

Lunch reservation at a famed Casino…

“The name is Bond. James Bond.” It’s easy to imagine these words spoken in the world’s most glamorous casino. Built at the end of the 19th century by Charles Garnier, the casino is a classic of Belle Epoque style. After free time to visit the ornate rooms, your private guide will escort you to the ferry for the return trip to Nice where you can enjoy evening cocktails at a Rooftop bar…

DAY THREE: Ready for a little R&R?

Spend the next morning at the beach... Take a swim or lie back and relax under a parasol while the staff at a Private Beach Club pampers you with drinks and snacks.

After lunch, you’ll end your journey with a private guide/drive to the 15th-century village of Saint Paul de Vence known for its galleries and shops along cobblestone lanes. Your private tour will include the cemetery where artist Marc Chagall is buried and a viewpoint to appreciate the majestic views over the surrounding hills.
